not happy at all. we have previously had 2 voip providers, both of which went out of business. so we thought we'd try magic jack . yes, it's cheap. yes, it has some perks. but when i can't get or make calls most of the time, it's not that good. what good is a phone if you can't rely on it? now, i'm shopping around for a new voip. very disappointed as we had high hopes. people call us, the line is busy-even though we have call waiting...even though we're not even on the phone. people within the same area code are having to dial a 1, which makes it a toll call. that makes no sense and they can't really explain it to us that makes any good sense. people are leaving us voicemails, and we can see on caller id that they've called...but there are sometimes no messages. caller id only displays their phone number, not their name. sometimes call waiting will disconnect us as i'm trying to answer. half the time when i'm dialling out, i have a dial tone, but the call won't go thru. it just sits there all quiet. can't talk to a human for customer support...have to do a chat with them online. they are prompt in chatting and seem patient, but a chat takes forever. talking is so much faster than chatting. we've had this for about 3 LONG weeks. it's not like we're on the phone that month, but i'm tired (and embarrassed) by the complaints from family and friends. tired of explaining the story to them over and over as to what's going on and why we're having problems. the call quality seems good most of the time, but that's not really helpful when the phones aren't working and i don't even know they're not working. i recommend that you stay away from magic jack.
